Bluemarlin makes a priority of finding the strongest fresh creative talent. Open to anyone looking to enter the brand design industry, the Spark Award offers graduates the opportunity to win a 6 month Junior Designer contract at bluemarlin London.

Working to a brief set by bluemarlin, only the graduates that put forward the bravest creative ideas will be offered an internship. Once the shortlist of successful applicants has been decided, a single bright Spark will be selected to receive the 6 month contract. 

Bluemarlin's interns gain real industry experience working on real live projects. As well as being integral members of the team, Spark Award winners develop under the creative mentorship of experts who've seen it all.

The Brief: "The ancestry spirit"

Create an alcoholic brand inspired by your family history.

Bring your legacy to life with an alcohol brand inspired by your family history. Shake an idea off that family tree and develop a wine, spirit, beer, cider or pre-mixed cocktail.Whether you've got a noble blood in your veins or skeletons in the closet, this is your opportunity to creativity tell your family's story. Are you more of an upper-class cognac or a middle-class ale? City Spirit or Country Cider? Remember where you came from to take you where you're going, and win an internship with one of the top brand design agencies in the UK. 

With the creative freedom to choose a name, an identity and a 2D/3D design, develop an exciting and new alcohol brand.  Ensure the brand is unique to you. Craft your own story, focus on the finer details which are specific to your own heritage. Think about brand extensions, applications and advertising. How can the brand exist within a commercial environment (touch points) and live and breathe in the real world?  The brand and product you create can take any form and function. It could be ale, beer, vodka, schnapps or even a pre-mixed cocktail.

The Deliverables: Ideas Board 

A collection of raw initial thoughts and ideas. These can be simple scamps, a thumbnail sketch or reference imagery.  Identity a name, a logo and other visual elements that communicate your brand's story and express its proposition.  Packaging 2D graphics and 3D structural packaging design for your product.  Brand touch points Posters, billboards, POS, experiential campaigns. The off-pack elements  that show how your brand comes to life.   

The Judging. It is bluemarlin's mission and privilege to create extraordinary brands that excel in the marketplace while making a positive impact in the world.  Every brand has it in them - the ability to truly connect with people and improve their lives, the potential to be successful and responsible, and the power to make a real difference.  Your Spark Award entries will be judged primarily on creativity, but must also meet the standards we set for the brands we work on all over the world: Advisory Note: Bluemarlin cannot be held responsible for any family curses unleashed during the design process.

The Award.

All shortlisted entrants will be offered a paid internship at bluemarlin London. Finally, bluemarlin's judging panel will select a single entrant whose work impressed them most, to receive a flexible Junior Designer six month contract with us.  

The Deadline.

Up to Entries should be submitted by Monday 8th April 2019.
